About the Competition

The Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (“CADR”), established under National Law University Delhi, aims to promote the use of ADR methods among legal and non-legal professionals, students, and general public at large. CADR was established with the purpose of creating awareness about ADR methods and imparting the skills involved therein to envision a society which values harmony, peaceful co-existence, and diversity.

Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution - National Law University, Delhi in collaboration with PSL Advocates and Solicitors, is hosting an Arbitration Essay Writing Competition. We invite all law students and practitioners to showcase their prowess in articulating nuanced perspectives on the challenges and innovations within the realm of “National and International Arbitration”.

The Competition invited participants to delve into various facets of arbitration, exploring its theoretical underpinnings, practical applications, and contemporary challenges. From seasoned legal scholars to aspiring lawyers, this competition offered a platform to showcase participants analytical prowess, research skills, and passion for arbitration.

We would like to thank our sponsors at PSL for their crucial support in making this competition an overwhelming success by contributing to the sphere of academia in such a robust and dynamic field of law. Their patience and strong response as well as guidance has helped us throughout this journey. With an admirable contribution of nearly 150+ essay submissions, an intricate process of three layers of evaluations were conducted with a complete layer of anonymity being maintained throughout. The winners of the competition were eventually decided by PSL Advocates & Solicitors.

Submission Guidelines

Guidelines

​

  • Participants are mandatorily required to comply with the following guidelines. Please note that submissions violating any of the guidelines mentioned below will not be considered for evaluation. 

  • Word limit: 1500-2000 words, exclusive of abstract and footnotes.

  •  Word limit for abstract: 150-200 words

  • Formatting guidelines for main body of the essay: Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 1.5, and justified alignment. 

  • Formatting guidelines for footnotes: Times New Roman, font size 10, line spacing 1.0, and justified alignment. 

  • Footnotes must strictly be in accordance with the OSCOLA (4th edition) format. Endnotes and descriptive footnotes are not permitted. 

  • The essay submitted must be the original, un-published and non-plagiarised work of the author(s). 

  • Co-authorship is allowed for the maximum of 2 authors.

  • Submissions of essays are to be made via mail to the CADR Email-ID (cadr@nludelhi.ac.in) with the subject "Submission of Essay | Essay Competition 2024".

  • Winner: Internship Opportunity at PSL Advocates and Rs. 15,000

  • 1st Runner Up: Rs. 10,000

  • 2nd Runner Up: Rs. 5000
